Cemeteries and Crematoria Procedures
The Uniting Church Cemeteries and Crematoriums have important social, historical and religious values and have important commemorative functions. Cemeteries are historic records of Australian Society.
The Uniting Church properties provide the facilities to enable all individuals to have a dignified and respectful interment.
History shows in most cased Uniting Church cemeteries have only made verbal arrangements regarding internments. In most cases no written licence agreements have been made. Therefore terms of the arrangement have not been recorded. In these situations the Uniting Church will assume the agreements are in perpetuity. In accordance with legislation requirements any plots or niche wall sold or given will require licence agreements in order to comply with the legislation and part four of the Cemetery and Crematoria Act.
Maintenance forms and safety checklists for all forms of internment can be found here.
