Renewing your NSW Working With Children Check

It has been almost 5 years since the current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) was introduced, and these checks are valid up to five years. As such, those who applied for their WWCC in the first phase-in will be due for renewal now or very soon!

If you hold a current NSW WWCC, you should get a reminder from the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian approximately 3 months before your check is due to expire.

Renewal applications cannot be submitted until three months before your expiry date. Do not reapply for a new check. Your WWCC number is like a driver’s licence – your number can remain the same, but you must renew before the expiry date.

Once you have renewed your WWCC, you will need to provide your name, date of birth, WWCC number and new expiry date to the designated leader at your church in order for them to verify your renewed WWCC number & expiry.

If you think your contact details may have changed in the last five years, please update them directly with the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian.
