Trauma Informed Care and Practice in Institutions Implementing Redress

Time: Two full days (7 hours each day)
Location: Centre for Ministry 16 Masons Drive, North Parramatta
Trauma Informed Care and Practice in Institutions Implementing Redress is a specially developed two-day training by Blue Knot Foundation for the Uniting Church. It will provide information and develop skills for senior managers, ministers, chaplains and lay preachers who may come in contact with survivors of child sexual abuse.
The training offers strategies to engage safely and respectfully in interactions with survivors and reduce the potential stress of such interactions. Information on self-care and trauma informed practice across organisations and systems will also be provided. Synod policies and guidelines are incorporated into the training.
About Blue Knot Foundation is a nationally renowned organisation that has been a significant contributor to the Royal Commission report on redress. The training has been designed for the Uniting Church to enhance the quality of direct personal responses provided to survivors. For more information click here.
About the trainer Merle Conyer is a presenter with Blue Knot Foundation. Merle ran several workshops for the Synod in 2017 and received very positive feedback. Cristina is a trauma informed Counsellor and Psychotherapist who works with the Uniting Church to facilitate a redress process for survivors of child sexual abuse in Synod institutions. She works part time and will respond to inquiries for the next training within two working days.
