Proposed changes to the Fire Services Levy

There has been a recent announcement regarding planned changes to the way the Government covers the cost of providing Fire and Rescue Services in NSW.

The Levy will be removed from the Insurance premiums and be added to individual property owners Council Rates.

The precise charge will be determined by the annual emergency services budget however each residential property which will include Churches will be levied at least $100 per year plus an additional amount calculated on the unimproved land value determined by the NSW Valuer General.

While there may initially be a slight reduction in Insurance premiums this cost will directly impact the level of Council rates.
