Fair Work Commission Decision – Annual Wage Review 2017
The Fair Work Commission announced the 2017 annual wage review decision under the Fair Work Act 2009 on 6 June 2017.
The national minimum wage (NMW) has been increased by 59 cents per hour to $18.29 per hour or $694.90 per week effective 1 July 2017. No adult employee in Australia can be paid less than the NMW.
Minimum rates in all modern awards have also been increased by 3.3% and these increases will also take effect from 1 July 2017.
Details of all award increases will be made available on the Fair Work website on or before 1 July 2017.
Visit the Fair Work website for more information.
What do employers need to do?
All employers within the Synod need to review the remuneration levels for each employee and ensure that the rates being paid from 1 July 2017 are equal to or more than the NMW and the applicable Award rate of pay.
