Supporting young people and building a better future

Order a free church banner to show your support for young people’s call for a post COVID 19 recovery that delivers a safer climate and jobs.

In 2019 our Synod meeting resolved to support young people in speaking out for stronger action on climate change.

Uniting Church people took part in the massive School Strike 4 Climate (SS4C) last September and the on-line rally on May 25 this year.

SS4C and Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network are now asking for our support for a national day of action this September 25th, and their appeal to “fund our future, not gas.”

How will COVID-19 recovery funds be spent?

Australia has been hit hard by bushfires and the COVID-19 crisis. Governments around the world are spending vast sums of money to stimulate economies in the wake of COVID-19. The investments planned now will lock in our future path for years. Right now, our nation has the opportunity to build a future in which we, our children and grandchildren, can thrive. Our Church is committed to advocating for an economy and way of life that reduces emissions.

September 25 -Build our Future- Climate Justice and Jobs

On September 25 young people will be calling for:

  • Solutions on climate that create jobs and help communities recover
  • Investments that transition our economy to renewable energy sources
  • Securing land rights and learning from First Nations people’s care for country
