NSW Heritage Grants

2023-25 funding round is now open

Heritage NSW is looking for innovative ideas to boost public access to the state’s most significant heritage places and stimulate local economies across the State. More than $5 million of grant funding is now available for projects that will activate and celebrate heritage. There are several categories you could potentially apply for, including Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Caring for State Heritage, Community Heritage Grants, a Local Government Heritage Grant and the new Activating State Heritage Grant.  Program highlights include:

NEW $1 million Activating State Heritage Grant category

For the first time there will be a trial $1 million Activating State Heritage grant program. This exciting program has been designed to increase public engagement and interactions with underutilised state heritage assets across NSW. Included within this grant round there will also be a one off ‘Heritage PitchFest’ event hosted in November this year. This innovative concept means that only the best and brightest shortlisted applicants will be invited to ‘pitch’ for the $1 million grant in front of a live audience and a panel of heritage activation experts.

  • For one State Heritage Register listed item

EOI’s close 12pm 5 October 2022

NEW $25,000 Local Government Heritage Grants targeting local councils in NSW

Each local council in NSW can also apply for a $25,000 Local Government Heritage Grant to support projects that help identify, conserve and promote heritage in their area. This category replaces the previous individual Local Heritage Advisors, Small Heritage Grants and Local Government Heritage Studies Grants categories. This round’s funding can still be used for those purposes, as well some additional uses that support local heritage outcomes. It is designed to provide local councils with greater flexibility to meet the needs of their community.

  • Only one application from each council.

Applications close 12pm 2 December 2022

Three streamlined and competitive grant categories:
