Annual Wage Review 2019
A Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission has on 30 May 2019, published the Annual Wage Review decision.
This decision is handed down annually and is applied to rates in modern awards and the minimum wage.
The decision will result in a 3.0% increase to modern award rates, with effect from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2019.
This increase does not apply to Enterprise Agreements. Having said that the pay rates in an Enterprise Agreement cannot fall below the relevant modern award rates.
This will result in an increase of $21.60 per week to the minimum wage which will now be $740.80 per week, or $19.49 per hour. This means that employers cannot pay employees less than $19.49 per hour regardless.
The Fair Work Commission will publish new award pay rates over the next few weeks.
